Does anybody have a source for the clamps that attach the heater hoses to the alternator bracket and passengers inner fender? Mine are currently zip-tied and look like poo. This is a '69 Z. Thank you.

all the resto catalogs carry the metal fender clamp. The CRG folks have said the alternator connection was a black tiestrap but Im not sure if a 'correct' repo is made of those yet. Try 'searching' for other threads and read what was said about them. There are pics too.

Sorry click, I did search for "heater hose", "heater hose hold down", and "heater hose fender", but it wasn't until I searched for "heater hose bracket" did I finally get the link I kind of needed. Guess it slipped by me.

I have been a part of many boards in the past and do make a habit of searching; I really don't like posting questions, but I didn't find what I needed after searching for the fairly obvious topics...my apologies, and thanks for the help; I found the stuff I needed.

I have a box of those original fender clamps stashed away.
You still need one?

Jim, the CRG said that the black strap was used for the A/C hoses,
not heater hoses. Those used a metal bracket.

Alternator clamp is still availiable from GM in the standard stock book. The inner fender well heater hose clamp was just discontinued from GM last year, a excellent repo? is available from Corvette Central. They might even be GM, CC has a habit of buying up GM parts and reselling.
By the way my 06A Z had a plastic GM tye strap to hold the heater hoses, not a fixed clamp. I have owned the car 33 years . The alternator bracket does not have any threads from a bolt being installed in the hole the bracket goes into.
Hope this helps. Mike.

My 05A 28K Z/28 does not have the heater hose bracket either. You don't see it in old originial engine pictures. That's something I look for on restored cars just like the Caution Fan sticker.

That is strange, because I have pulled many of those from original junked cars over the years.
Maybe it was one of those things, that some had it, and some didn't.
Maybe some factory line guys installed it, and some were lazy and didn't.

I always saw them on late 1968's though 1970 models.

:beers:

Not really that strange. I was looking through Jerry MacNeish,s book this morning and on page 17 he states-"A clamp is mounted on this bracket ( alternator) on early production Z/28,s to contain the heater hoses. Later production cars use a Ty-rap in place of the clamp"
I guess it was a cost and time thing for GM. The Ty-rap would be cheaper and take less time to use?

GM# 3825416 is only shown to be fitted when A/C is installed. (C60-D7)

During non-A/C installations, (ie; z28) UPC-1-M3 clearly shows no clip fitted with the exception of GM#3770259 on the inner fender.

So, my guess is that fitting 3825416 to a non-A/C 69 (SB or BB) Camaro would be incorrect..

Anyway, www.amkproducts.com have them for $4each as part B-10005.

When you order the underhood detail kit from AMK, the fenderwell bracket comes with it. I dont think the Alt bracket does.

hmmm, my Sept. built 69 Z does not have any indications of a srew that was ever in the hole of the alt. bracket......I mean, none....

I guess for me what it boils down to is having things done securely, with period-correct parts. Granted, my 10C of '68 may or may not have come with that bracket on the alternator, but I would like it to be there to keep the hoses from flapping around. It's 100% true that it didn't leave Norwood with Hooker Super Comp headers, hood pins, a tach on the column, gauges under the dash, blue and white paint, radial tires, the cowl hood, the battery, battery cables, carb, intake, alternator, coil, spark plug wires, "CAUTION FAN" sticker :D ....you get my point. If that was the one thing someone pointed out as "not factory" on my car

So, did we ever figure out where some owner got a metal strap holding their A/C hose to the Alt Bracket ?

I seem to recall a discussion here wondering if it was a Norwood vs. L.A thing.
