69camarofast Oct 19th, 06, 11:19 AM seems like here in Central Cali. i never see 1st Gen Camaros on the freeways,or in the city..i did see a green Z/28 while i was out of town in Gilroy but other then that.. i saw Gary L. in the streets of fresno a few weeks back ..once in a while every few months i will see a first Gen but not very often at all..do you see many around your area..i sure don't here..
erik67ssrs Oct 19th, 06, 11:37 AM Here in Dallas, other than at car shows, maybe a few times a year.
82Vettrin Oct 19th, 06, 11:41 AM in Ky., during the week, you'll see an occasional driver; but May thru October when weekends are good, many and plentiful. saw a 50-footer at the local Pizza Hut last night, first time I've seen this car locally, so might have been somebody's "work-in-progress to-be".
chuck69ss Oct 19th, 06, 01:02 PM Except for carshows, I probably only saw 3 or 4 all summer here in the northeast. I think as the value of the old muscle cars goes up, there seem to be fewer people taking them to work, shopping, etc.
rogue68 Oct 19th, 06, 01:08 PM Only time I see one is looking out the windshield at my own. In some threads I see statements like - 'don't get a cowl hood, or Z stripes, or something cause everyone runs them' and I think man, where do all y'alls live? I don't even see another 1 gen around here
lortsie Oct 19th, 06, 01:16 PM every morning in my garage ;)
Seriously though, I've seen a total of probably 5 or 6 since I moved back up here to the Portland area in June.
Matt M. Oct 19th, 06, 01:36 PM Excluding shows, 3 to 5 a year here in Montana--typically in the summer (that was on a Tuesday this year).
jet_car2000 Oct 19th, 06, 01:41 PM Theres lots of guys around here that drive there cars often, and it seems like you see one you never seen before pretty often here too. I hardly ever drive one of my cars but i see frist gen camaros and firebirds everytime i walk out the back,,,,Should see lots of really nice ones in town next month during the swap meet here the 17th thru 19th,,,,,,,Frank
redfox Oct 19th, 06, 01:44 PM Every day. We have three in my family a 1968 camaro and two 1969s all three are restored to new condition.
DOUG G Oct 19th, 06, 01:45 PM Every nice weekend at local "gatherings". Too many around here...LOL :D... NEVER too many.
cd playa Oct 19th, 06, 02:33 PM other from my own, i have seen the same one everyday for about 6 months at a body shop near my house, but i dont see it anymore. i think it belonged to someone who works their because there were no work being done to it. other from that i see very little every year not counting car shows.
thedugan Oct 19th, 06, 02:53 PM Never, saw a real nice 69 RS going thru Livingston NJ this week. Not sure who it was but it was a pro-touring car. Can't remember the last time I saw one on the road. But I mean their really isn't that many of them out there. Can't tell you the last time I saw a mustang, cuda, chevelle, nova, etc.. either.
Hank's 68 Oct 19th, 06, 02:53 PM Here in Dallas, other than at car shows, maybe a few times a year.
Same here. Other than mine, I have seen two. I remember each one since it was such a surprise.
BonzoHansen Oct 19th, 06, 02:57 PM Not enough!
But I did see one last saturday. A red 68 getting of Rt 195. And a guy down the street drives a 1st gen firebird everyday.
Farm Boy Oct 19th, 06, 03:13 PM There are still quite a few first Gen Camaros out and about in my neck of the woods. I usually spot 2 or 3 a month. It’s mostly youngsters in beaters, but it is not unusual to spot a really nice one cruising around on a pleasant day.
The second Gen cars are what have disappeared from the streets around here in the last couple of years.
camaroman7d Oct 19th, 06, 03:21 PM WOW, I guess all the 1st Gens must be in northern Cali. Like any classic car you don't see them in the bad weather but, on nice days it is common to see several. Lets not even talk about car shows or cruise ins (burger runs).
AlexFolino Oct 19th, 06, 03:38 PM I see them once in a while. About 5 or 6 in the summer. Usually always different too. There are quite a few Camaro owners within 5-15min of me it seems.
click Oct 19th, 06, 03:53 PM I see one everytime I take out the garbage to the garage :)
SixtyAte Oct 20th, 06, 05:54 AM Except for carshows, I probably only saw 3 or 4 all summer here in the northeast. I think as the value of the old muscle cars goes up, there seem to be fewer people taking them to work, shopping, etc.
Hi Chuck...
I drive my 68 as often as I can here in south eastern Mass. I have gone to many shows over the years but refrained from that this year. I am at Sams Club in Seekonk on most sunday eves. I was out last saturday for six hours crusing in Tiverton, Newport, Swansea, Dartmouth and so on. Heck, I even saw a blue 69 on the ave in Fall River :). I don't do much highway ( 411's ) so I don't go too far from SE Mass. I also was out in Dartmouth last night crusing for a few hours because driving season will be ending too soon. I bet you can't wait to enjoy your 69 again !

DougP Oct 20th, 06, 06:16 AM Every nice weekend at local "gatherings". Too many around here...LOL :D... NEVER too many.
Agree wtih Doug G that there are a lot of first gens in the MD area --- there are a lot cruise-in spots every night of the week in the summer and plenty of car shows on the weekends with a lot of first gen Camaros -- but like Doug G says, there are never too many!!
tmannet Oct 20th, 06, 06:23 AM Spotting a first gen Camaro is a rarity in small-town Wisconsin. I think I've seen 3 this summer in my area. Coincidentally, just yesterday (rain/snowy day too) I saw what looked like a very original '67 convertible on main st. that I have never seen before, driver was a middle-aged woman (I think) with a '70s hairdo. So miracles can occur anywhere! (convertible I mean, not the older woman)

zuma Oct 20th, 06, 08:11 PM Just got back from a run to the local shopping center (about 6 miles round trip) saw 4 of them; a blue 68, a dark blue 67, a gold 68, and a dark green 69, when I opened the garage door ;), all in one trip, all seperately crusin around town (except mine)...must be my lucky day....There are a few in my area I guess.. :D
SY1 Oct 20th, 06, 09:50 PM In Michigan in the Summer months it's a fairly common site on a weekend to see a couple each night. I was pretty surprised that over the last 4 or 5 years I've spent 2 or 3 weeks every year in the Spring in Phoenix and Tucson and have NEVER seen a first gen camaro other than at the dragstrip. By the way the Firebird International and Tuscons Southwestern Intl are almost always closed what ever time of year I've been there. Probably made 20 trips to each between January, March, April, May, June, July and only once was there drag racing in Phoenix on the weekend, NHRA time trials. Same goes for Tucson, only once this past Spring when they had the Top Fuel Nostalgia drags. Very disappointed in the lack of first gens or drag racing in the sunny Southwest. Hard to believe that first gens are much more common here in the snow belt.
sharpie Oct 20th, 06, 10:03 PM I have seen 3 all verts, 1 69 At the classic car lot, A nice blue 68 one going down the road, And my 68 :D
NoRideTodd Oct 20th, 06, 11:39 PM I saw one 6 months ago at Starbucks...a '68 RS...a father/son project...real nice stuff. A friend at work had a '69 a few years ago, but dropped a ford engine in it..weird.
Other than that, just toyotas and other asian crap.
buenymayor Oct 21st, 06, 05:06 AM It's a rare occassion to see any muscle car out on the street around here. It never fails, though, if I go to a car show, I'm always amazed at the amount of first gens that are local cars. I don't get to town very often, but these guys must never take their cars out unless there is a show.
chuck69ss Oct 21st, 06, 05:25 AM ...A friend at work had a '69 a few years ago, but dropped a ford engine in it..weird. ...
Eeeewwwww!
bills69 Oct 21st, 06, 05:54 AM There are alot here in little old Connecticut

Cruise nights and nice weekends always see a different one
DOUG G Oct 21st, 06, 06:58 AM Here's a buddies site... just a sample of the cars around here. (most at track)

MrDanB Oct 21st, 06, 08:13 AM Since I am in a Camaro club...I see them all the time. As far as just driving down the road on any given day...I might see one or two. I know that there are at least 2 dozen in the small town I live in. One guy has 2 69's. Both are
white and black and one is SS and the other is RS. He leaves them sitting outside in the elements all the time. :( In the summer months, I see first gens all the time...
Dano:)
77thor Oct 21st, 06, 08:54 AM Once or twice a year, except for shows....
angelglo Oct 21st, 06, 12:14 PM i guess we dont see them often enough. where i live, there are quite a few neighbors with first gens. they always have there garages open. there is a real nice 69 rs parked outside in his driveway next to a 70 ss chevelle clone. he doesnt have enough garage space and i know h ha a 66 chevelle vert(project) and a 65 vert in his garage. he owns a boy shop that specializes in classic muscle.
HawaiianCamaro Oct 21st, 06, 12:52 PM see a couple a day here. One guy drives his red 69 to work everyday/a orange 69 makes its rounds around the base as do a Butternut yellow 68 and a white 69. Always see a elderly ladying driving her green 69 when i am headed to work and recently a white 67 on my way home at the end of the day.
hubb Oct 21st, 06, 02:41 PM Theres 3 '67's in the small town I live in:thumbsup: Other then those I probably see only see a couple a month during the driving season
DjD Oct 21st, 06, 03:28 PM A few times a week here almost any time of the day but morning and evening drive time the most...
jr68 Oct 21st, 06, 09:20 PM Just at car shows , other than that maybe one maybe two a year.

I think the answer is simple:
You live in Fresno
Fresno has nne of the highest rate of car thefts in the country.
I wouldn't drive my '69 SS there either.

your right about us having one of the highest rate of car thefts..im not sure i would agree about that being the reason we don't see 1st-gens here.. ..at are car shows, burger stops/shows exc. it is far a few that you ever see 67,68,69's even harder yet to see a convert. :( out of all are shows from the whole summer you can count how many Camaros have entered..i don't remember seeing a conv. at any of the shows that i have been to..theres just not that many 1st Gen Camaro owners that have restored them or that ever go out on a weekend drive here in the central valley..if you look at Team Camaro members from fresno/clovis theres only 4 or 5 of us here

Wow, not even at car shows ?
Where's the Camaro love in Fresno ? :D

They stole the love too. :)
Dayton68Z28 Oct 23rd, 06, 04:00 PM I mostly see 68's and a few 67's. Hardly ever see a 69.
69camarofast Oct 23rd, 06, 04:33 PM They stole the love too. :)
LOL :D
Mark Rossiter Oct 23rd, 06, 07:12 PM I saw one and only one on the road this year in my neck of the woods. A '68 RS convertible in excellent condition. When I was driving my '67 around two weekends ago I got a thumbs up from a guy in a Corvair. How cool was that?
camaromaniac Oct 23rd, 06, 09:22 PM I had a very good day yesterday---- spotted a 69 Z in Lemans Blue, then came across a blue 69 followed by a red 70 Chevelle and finally a 70 el Camino in black! But normally, outside of shows I would likely only see a first gen Camaro once every other month (not including November through February), here in the Pacific Northwest. Charlie
