I need to decide what color to paint my 67 RS Camaro. It will have a Black vinyl top and the bumble bee stripe. I've been wanting to paint it a RED color but can't decide which Red. I also have been playing with painting it the original color of butternut yellow, but I'm not sure what that color looks like in the sun. I'm also going to use a gold metallic and pearl.

Any pics would be great, Thanks.

If you want my opinion, red would look MUCH better than the yellow. I think the red would look good with the black stripes and black top. I think a "darker" red (like "Paint Job No." 52 on this page http://camaros.net/years/69/69paint.html ) would look better than a bright red, but again, that's just my opinion.

Kevinh-

I'm going through the same dilema, trying to decide on a red. If your not completely set on an original factory color, you might go over to eBay and look at some of the pictures of the cars for sale (both new and old). Since you can get PPG paint mixed in almost any factory color, you can look at any of the newer cars both European, Asian and domestic. I am growing kind of fond of the Ferrari 1998-1999 red. Ferrari also has a pretty sweet looking yellow. PPG has paint codes fvor these colors. You can go to the www.Autobodydepot.net (http://www.Autobodydepot.net) website and click on their autocolorlibrary site and you will see where they have a paint chip selector for most cars.

That web page is most helpfull, thank you very much. I really have my heart set on a red. That ferrari red looks nice. I guess I'm going to have to spend some time at car show this summer to get a real good look at some colors.

Two years ago I saw a camaro in a vermilion red and I said, "that's the color I want." I'm not sure if the guy even told me the right color of his car but why would he lie.

Does anyone out there have pictures of a vermilion red camaro that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Dont pick a shade of red from looking at a pix...... it always looks different in person. If you see it in person it makes a big diference.

My suggestion is to keep your eyes open for red cars in your area.... if you see a shade you like find out the car model and year, go to the dealership and get the paint code.

Thats what I did

Much better than decideing based on a picture on the computer.

yeah the scarlet red looks sweet, but then again sometimes pictures make the color look a bit different than in person, but from the pic, I give thumbs up on the scarlet red graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I looked at REDs 'till I was blue in the face. I finally decided on PPG FLAME RED. Check out the new Dodge Sport truck in the sun, its a little on the dark side but sweet in the sun. The Jeeps use the same exact code, PR4. I haven't got it painted yet, so no pics.
My 2 cents,
Guy

I have seen one color red that seems to glow in the sun...gotta find that Nova owner and see what he used.

I'm really liking the red look.

Do you guys think adding a gold metalic and pearl to the red paint will make the red just sparkle?

My uncle painted his 68 RS rally green with white stripes and he added gold metalic with a pearl to his paint; it looks so sweeeeeet!

My car was painted 13 years ago with Dupont base coat clear coat in medium garnet red metallic. I really like the color. It seems to really change depending on the sunlight. Here’s some pics...

Good luck finding your color smile.gif

Here's a couple of pics in the colors you mentioned. The '69 is mine, the '68 was at the '03 Memphis SCS.
