I want to upload video tape into my computer then edit then burn onto DVD. I want an easy to use program for a guy with intermediate skills and turn out a halfway decent project.

I assume your camera connects to your 'puter via Firewire.

What is your software budget dollar wise?

If it were a Mac he would already have the best video authoring software already. iMovie ships free with all new Macs. Try Ulead or Adobe Premier

Intervideo makes a pretty decent product that's not difficult to use. This link (http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/WinDVDCreator_Download.jsp) is to a 14 day eval. Check it out.
