I'm in the middle of converting my '68 powerglide to an M21. I've got the tranny & shifter but I need to order all the other stuff (linkage, pedals, console shifter plate stuff, etc.). I've price compared all the Camaro resto catelogs and D&R has the cheapest prices on just about everything - my question is: Does anybody have any experience with the quality of parts from D&R and were you generally happy with thier parts ? Thanks for your help.

I think Ricks (www.firstgen.com) and year one are the best personnally, and prices aren't so bad.

The only parts I have had problems with are RS actuators leak. All the other parts I have ordered have been great from Classic and Rick's

It's been a while, but I never had problems with stuff purchased from D&R. I have a Rick's catalog, but haven't purchased anything from them.

D&R is fine - I've bought parts from them and been happy. You may also get one of the others to match the D&R price if you feel better going there.

The people @ D&R are good. Bought some great NOS parts.

They're all good, reliable places to get parts from. I've gotten parts from all 3 without problems.

I also like D&R. I have purchased many good parts from them. They usually had the right stuff I was looking for when some others didn't.

BH3CHEVY,

I would definitely check out firewheelclassics.com (http://firewheelclassics.com) . My personal experience has been great pricing and even better quality. I have known them to refuse to carry a product if the quality wasn't right. They are VERY particular and it shows.

i buy all of my parts from mchenry classic car parts in chicago. ron norman, the owner answers the phone himself. he is very knowledgable and carries a full line of reproduction, nos and good used parts. he will also let you know when a repo isn't worth a darn. his pricing is as good or better than the big guys and his service is better. he can also help you answer questions about what is right and what isn't. his number is 815-363-7878. you should give him a try.

Remember that many of these companies get their parts from the same source.

Ditto on Chris. The bulk of the resto parts have only one or two mfg's. Ask your supplier who is the OEM on the part and compare.

I just had my car painted and used a lot of aftermarket parts, I decided to replace the door handles and marker lite bezels so I ordered them from the local chev dealer to get the better Quality. I got to tell you the chrome on the handles was terrible and the bezels were pitted I was very !@#$%^ at chevy for the Quality of the parts!

molaker,

Wait 'till you try and mount the door handles. They don't seat completly on the main seal. The original one that were on my car fit perfect.

i ordered door handles about 4 years ago.they where trim parts.now they look worse than the originals. they pitted bad. they fit nice though.if you buy these i would say wax them often or they will rust. http://members.spree.com/entertainment/ochrisl/
