I have a factory black car and everything that I read says that I should have a black grill. The car is a factory X66 car and should not have chrome trim around the front headlight bezels. I ordered a set of new bezels without trim and they came in silver. I have had people say they should be black and others say they should be silver. Can someone help me with the correct color?

A factory black '69 SS would have an argent [silver] grille. Dealer ordering info states this. The headlamp bezels always match the grille.

One of the '60s pulp-car mags ordered a black '69 SS Camaro L78/auto and had Motion do some mods. They wanted a black car with no SS stripes; Chevy was so uncooperative they wrote an editiorial about it. They finally got it built in black but with SS stripe which they removed. There were many photos of the car and Motion used it in their advertising; the grille was silver.
