Hi All, started taking apart my zz4 for the new Hydraulic roller cam install. When taking it appart do I have to keep the push rods, lifter, and rockers in order?? I plan on re-using all......

Thanks
Chris

No. Pushrods are probably going to be different. Rockers as well as lifters do not have to be keep in any certain order.

If you take out a gm roller and put back a gm roller ,, all should be the same as zz4 is a stock roller motor if it was a complete package. No? I had the ZZ3 and changed to the ZZZ roller cam, kept all my stuff but went to self aligning Comp roller rockers.
Push rods will be differant on Retro rollers for shure.

Mock it up and check pushrod geometery. Even with stock applications you could be off some. Pushrod length checkers are cheapo.

Only way to make sure is to measure.

You might want to think about replacing those pushrods, the stock ones are not hardended.

Did you remove the heads? If so replace the stock headgasket with a better one. The stock one is .051 thick.

Check with a compression calculator and play with different head gaskets to get a good quench and compression ratio.

If you are using the stock zz4 heads and a .015 head gasket you probably be close to 11 to 1. A .039 gasket probably will give you a 10.5 compression.

Also check you DCR.

The higher the compression the more cam you can run.
