thinking of going pro touring and mainly pro touring is road racing instead of drag racing, would a 383 be a good idea for a pro touring car for the occasional road racing? or should i go with a smaller stroke 377 de-stroker or 302 to maintain rpms through the corners?

A 383 is fine, IMO. FWIW, I am putting a LS2 402 in my PT 67.

Cubes are less of an issue as much as how the engine is built and makes power.

ya, in my opinion its mainly all in the stroke. i know of someone with a blown 383 which makes its peak h.p. @7,300rpm which is sorta what i want to do but maybe in the 6,500rpm+ range, it would be nice to have big cubes and a high reving motor with a rather large stroke.

For what it's worth NO ONE knows more about auto crossing/road racing 1st Gen Camaors than one of our moderators David Pozzi. He chose a GM crate 383/425 motor for his wife's car. That would be the only reason I would need to make up my mind. I don't think you could go wrong with that type of combo in your ride. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The 377 would be more fun in a lighter car. but in a full weight car I like the torque from the stroke. however, if you had the block to build the 377, a 406 would be my choice

Yup, because driving the line is more important than the right foot.
