I'm working on a 85 Camaro, it will have a 350 small block and I'm looking for headers for it. I'm not sure if I want long or short one's .... all I know is I would like to make sure I don't hurt any of my low end torque

Longtubes have a definite torque advantage over shorties.

but does that go for low end too?

The long-tube headers are best for performance, but will hang mighty low and aren't really practical on a street car. For my 2 cents I say use 1-5/8" shorties and a Flowmaster or Edelbrock cat-back system. Either way, getting rid of those godawful manifolds will only help your torque.

Yes. The shorties have minimal gains at best, give up at least 20-30 ft. lbs. down low as compared to a full length header and cost about the same.

the problem with the third gen is that danged torque arm! makes running true dual exhaust a real chore!
i was going to go that way, but ended up going with hooker's 2460 IIRC. comes with a really nice y pipe. got mine in aluminum coat, y pipe comes unfinished.
here's a link to a guy that did one of the nicest true dual setups on a third gen i have seen!

http://www.thirdgen.org has a ton of info on different headers and exhaust for our cars.
