View Full Version : redline tires for 67 ss
aloha Oct 25th, 06, 09:55 PM Hi...did a search and didn't find a definate answer, so.. with the 67 ss Survivor car I bought that has new rallys on it, would it be correct to put redlines on it? Keep it white walls? Unless I find a build sheet (don't think the protecto has wheels on it) how can I know what it should have? The previous owner thought it had painted to match wheels with dog dish caps? I know so many things could be ordered on most anything, but was there a majority for certaing models ie. standard car/rs car/ss car/big block car etc. the original spare (can take pic once I pick it up...I think it's original) is a red painted 14: wheel with blackwall tire.
:)
Thanks,
Mark
67 RSS Oct 25th, 06, 11:07 PM The SS 350 came with redline tires. They are D70. The L48 came with: "special hood, wide oval redstripe tires with 14x6 wheels, color keyed accent band, ss grill and filler cap emblem, hood insulation, and engine and chassis components"
If equipped with disc brakes in 67 you got the ralleys. Not sure that you could get them with drums for 67..thats what the literature says but never have seen it discussed here. The wheel code is DG if original ralley.
Appreciate a photo of the drivers side engine showing carb spring, throttle rod and spk plug wire support when you do your photo shoot. Cant read the tag from your post..photos dont enlarge. Is car yellow? But thanks for posting them!
Dont worry about the money- enjoy the car.
gro51 Oct 26th, 06, 07:21 AM Check out this link from Camaro Research Group. Go down a ways and you'll see tire information. Looks like RL (redlines) were available in '67 and were standard or optional depending on options.

Even if not correct, I happen to like the look of redlines on rallye wheels.
clwilcox33 Oct 26th, 06, 09:13 AM Please ask questions once, in only one forums. We all read all of them.
Thanks!
67 RSS Oct 26th, 06, 09:18 AM wondered where my post went thought I was losing it!
aloha Oct 26th, 06, 09:28 AM Sorry bout the double post....party foul...won't happen again. I'll get those pics for you on the carb when I pick it up (next week). I remember seeing the spring attached to the bracket they use to pull the motor, but will get the pics. The car is white right now, but originally red. Don't know whay pics don't blow up but tag reads:
10B H382
67-12637 LOS2306
765-Z R-2
E 2MGS
4P 5Y
67 RSS Oct 26th, 06, 01:15 PM thanks for the tag info...similar to mine- looks like the bumper guards were added to this car as B missing in group 5 options nest to the Y. Always trying to figure out how I got front bumper guards (mine is 5BY) but never had any rears!
BonzoHansen Oct 26th, 06, 03:03 PM Did the rally wheel cars get redlines?

aloha Oct 26th, 06, 05:16 PM That's wierd, heard they all had rears?? My 67RS I had 14 years ago didn't have them...maybe they rust out easy and people took them off? I think the lady bought the guards around the same time as the side door guards...I think she was pretty anal about protecting the car. I'll have to go through the receipts and she when she got them. Also think the air cleaner was either replaced or a different top put on, as it is chrome...looks more like big block stuff to me, but I'm no expert. Also not sure on valve covers, though I was told they could have been chrome?? I don't think so but??
pdq67 Oct 26th, 06, 05:36 PM I ordered mine with painted steel wheels and dog-dish hubcaps that had Firestone wide oval D-70/14 redlines on them..
First thing I did was put CRAGAR deep dish chrome reverse on her and my new redlines.
I still have my original wheels and hubcaps up on the shelf in the garage...
