I was working on my 69 last night and finally got around to addressing that channel area between the roof and the side drip rail moldings. Whoever had the car before me must have filled in that channel area with bondo. It was cracked into little pieces so I chisled out the entire area down to the metal.

I can't remember from when I did my last 69 if that was the way the roof panel and side drip rail molding seam came together, or if there was something like bondo or seam sealer that went into that channel. I believe if the car came with a vinyl top there was a plastic piece that fit into the channel to cover over the edge of the vinyl. Since my car does not have a vinyl top, I wanted to know if the channel should remain as is or if there is something that goes in there before I go any further. Any help would be appreciated.

Mine had seam sealer in the channel area. Mine also has a 2" section of the drip rail repaired using lead. I was wondering if it was damaged at the factory. I found only bondo in other repair areas, so I don't think a prior owner did this.

That's pretty cool; lead is one of those things that only the old-timers use!!! I saw something on SPEED a while back where a guy was fixing something with lead; he was about 70 and had a big-old stogie sticking out of his mouth. Did some pretty incredible stuff!!!
