View Full Version : Best times so far - how much left?
fastercar68 Oct 27th, 06, 06:56 PM Went to the track this past Wednesday after more fine tuning, and came back with my best numbers so far. Can anyone here interpret these numbers and tell me if this is about as good as they're going to get or is there potential for more?
60' 2.18
ET 12.86
MPH 109.64
I have cut a 1.94 60' on a different run. These are better than the 2.2 - 2.4s I used to get with my 327. I have BFG KDW 275/40/17 in the rear with leafs and Koni shocks. I've gotten these numbers by leaving the line with a decent launch and then gradually adding throttle. If I mash it, the tires spin.
I've got a 700r4 with a 3000 stall and 3.42 12 bolt posi rear.
Thanks
Rich69RS/SS Oct 27th, 06, 08:12 PM Can't say it enough, there's more ET left work on those 60ft. What was your tire pressure ?
Mwilson Oct 27th, 06, 08:22 PM well 12.86 isnt too far off the 109 Id say you have some 12.6's in there with that mph.
HarleyD67 Oct 27th, 06, 08:27 PM You need to get the 60' time down, 12.6's are there if you can. Consider a better tire like Mickey DR's. What is the rest of your set up?
6D9 Oct 27th, 06, 11:01 PM With that mph you can get 12.2's no problem. Just need to 60 foot around 1.7-1.8.
68rs406 Oct 27th, 06, 11:11 PM There is no reason whatsoever you can't be in the 1.8's at absolute minimum in the 60', that .3 early on can be .4-.5 at the end, I believe a 12.40 is easily attainable, nothing personal but honestly, 2. anything is terrible even in the 13's. The good news is you can easily go faster
Any traction device should get you in the 1.8's, even 1.7's with a little practice. You should be able to mash the throttle and leave, anything less is killing ET.

Yep. I'd agree with that.
bowtie1Z28 Oct 28th, 06, 05:10 AM My last run for this year @ Byron was a 12.32 @ 109.66 w a 1.72 60' so low 12's will be very doable with traction. I second Harley recommedation on the Mickey DR's, they hook very well!

With an ideal chassis set-up/tires your 109 should/could be as fast as 11.90's - 12.0's. Street cars never seem to be that efficient, but i would think 12.20's - 12.30's should be easily obtainable with a little tuning. I ran a 12.11 @107 mph last week in my impala stocker

Yea just ask JimM how well.:p
fastercar68 Oct 28th, 06, 07:21 PM Thanks for the responses. These runs were with 30psi in the rear tires. How low can you go with street tires? I know the guys running slicks are down near 15psi.

DOUG G Oct 28th, 06, 08:30 PM Get some stickies for the track... Below was 12psi in a set of McCreary's on a 1900'DA track day in the heat. You gotta get the60's down and you're there.

I love McCrearys  I think they are called Road stars now. I've gone 10.65 @128 on them w/1.52 60'. They dont last long when you cook em, but they work !!!!
