I just received and opened up my 68 non-RS repro grill to find that it's all gray??

What's the story with that? This looks nothing like the one I have on my car. Does anyone make one that is correct? Is there a way to make this one look correct?

I thought this was going to be easy... jeeez.

That is how GMPD supplied it back in the old days. Requires paint.

As William stated that is how they came. You can get some semi-flat or satin black Krylon paint and have fun painting it. One can should do you.

Thanks but my grill, which is original, on the car is silver (gray) and black. This is not an RS or an SS. Maybe I'll just paint the whole thing black... it will probably look better but won't be original.

As I was doing the resto on mine I found the grill had been repainted. I found chrome under the paint on the face of the grill.

Yep, that's how they come. I personally like the all black look. Scuff it up good with some scotch bright and shoot it. Some people use an adhesion promoter and plastic primer before spraying. I didn't without any problems.

Thanks. I will keep the original one in a box, spray the new one all black because I agree it will look better.

Did you use semi-gloss or satin or flat?

I used semi-gloss which I believe is the same as satin.

Be sure to get Krylon paint because its made special for plastic parts and will adhere good.

What color is the trim around the grill considered?

I've seen the Krylon rattle can paint, is that what you used or did you get some for use with a paint gun?
