Pretty sure this is what you are refering to. The one on my drivers side was gone when I got the car, the passenger side one is shown here before I redid the trunk. I have not noticed any reason for its existence yet, think its called 'upper reinforcement pan' smile.gif

If anyone has one for the drivers side, I need one.

yes click that is the peace . I wasn't sure if it was needed for structure integrity ? do any of the after market vendors have such a part ? well the quarters are already welded on the car an it would be a pain in the a-- to put them in so i'll hold off if it dosen't support anything . thanks rob

You can bet the General thought they were necessary, or he wouldn't have put them on. They are spotted to the lip of the trunk opening, and have a big blob of caulk -- not seam sealer, but similar-- between the bracket and the underside of the quarter. I suspect it's there to dampen vibration.

I was not going to re-install mine but got talked into it. Had to blast it like crazy to get rid of the rust. Can't really see what function it could provide.

You can always put them in. Just use some of the fusion glue. My other 67 SS had just the glue on them, no spot welds. I am still looking for the one on the passenger side.
