I running one of these on my iron block and alum. headed SBC. I'm having no problems.

However, I have been told I CAN"T do this with a BBC and a alum. head.

Can someone answer why I can't?

Thats been my answer. Several guys have disagreed with me over at the chevelle site.

They offer no reason other than to say you can't.

I have been told that there is a issue with corrosion that is not compatable with alloy heads. The slightly thicker composition with stainless ring is more desirable for alloy. If you are constantly pulling heads then I guess you would not give it time to corrode and etch head so I guess you would not have to worry. Just my .02

I don't think Fel-pro make's a BB, .015" thick rubber coated steel shim is why!

SCR or whoever it is do make copper coated shims that have a stenceled rubber-like outline on them to seal where needed and they should work.

I don't know if they are made in .015" or .020" thick or not.

One last point is that the stock, and Mr. Gasket type, (Non-rubber coated), .020" steel shims will probably brennill(Sp?) aluminum heads and cause problems or so I've read and this is the main reason they aren't used in aluminum/cast-iron and aluminum/aluminum applications. And probably right like zdld17 said about galvanic corrosion too between the dis-similar metals!!
