View Full Version : Camaro Factory Assembly Manual on CD
Ghostbuster Oct 31st, 06, 07:31 PM I've searched the web and TC posts looking for information on electronic manuals, and found nothing.
I have several good '68 Camaro books, but would love to be able to search or ZOOM in PDF format.
Has anyone seen the '68 Camaro Factory Assembly manual on CD?
How about Body by Fisher on CD?
Personally, I would prefer to to spend $20-$30 on a CD, rather than spend 2 weeks in front of my scanner.
If I did put all 450 pages of the 1968 Camaro Factory Assembly Manual on CD, would anyone here be interested in a copy?
This manual has been out of production for many years.
Does anyone have any copyright opinions on digitizing this manual?
Mark C Oct 31st, 06, 08:15 PM I've already spent the 2 weeks infront of my scanner for the 69 AIM and then converted it into a PDF document, but I would think copyright laws would prevent distributing it to others.
Pacecarjeff Oct 31st, 06, 08:46 PM I like having the book.
I certainly don't want to go inside, and thumb through the computer.
When I need the AIM, I am usually already very greasy.
I never think I will need it, then I get stuck on reassemble.
Why would you want it only on CD?
You would have to plan ahead every time???
clwilcox33 Oct 31st, 06, 08:47 PM I'm putting a computer in my garage when it's done with internet access. Other's might have the same?

I can only imagine the key board after a few weeks.
Although if they were ALL available on cd, I would do that too.
The books take up a lot of space.
each year has
AIM
repair
maintenance
Fisher body
x 4 different years = 16 books.
clwilcox33 Oct 31st, 06, 09:09 PM I agree on the space, and I also like to be able to thumb through books when I want to....
There are plastic covers for keyboards, and flexible ones too. But then a keyboard only costs $10 so.....
maui Oct 31st, 06, 09:27 PM A cd with a search option would be great. Frankly I am surprised no one was made one yet.
I probably spend more time thumbing through looking for I need then I spend actually working on the car.

Everyone is different.
I'm an old computer geek.
I need reading glasses to find anything in the book...
I get all my (old) computers free from work.
In the garage, I have a small PC inside an overhead cabinet, and 15" flat panel monitor hanging on my bench pegboard.
Since most companies are upgrading their computers, I get these old computers and keyboards and mice at no cost.
I have a cordless keyboard, internet connection for Team Camaro access, ordering parts locally or online (my shopping lists generally take several days to finalize), all my MP3's (I did buy some nice $29 speakers) and other technical reference manuals
so I can search by keywords, and can Zoom in on images.
I'm ussually very greasy also, and hate to touch my nice clean book without washing up first.
(I abuse my garage computer.. Plastic cleans easier than paper)
SaranWrap / StretchWrap makes a nice (replaceable) keyboard cover, but I just swap out mice when they get too dirty..
Currently, I make copies of certain pages on my AIM, because I don't want to bend the pages or tear the cover on my book..

Clear flexible keyboard covers are avaiable.
Steptoe Oct 31st, 06, 11:39 PM You can print out the section u want to use...and take to the workshop, and it doesnt matter if it gets greasy....a manaul one is reasonably careful where one puts it..
Thats far easier than refering to a computer in the workshop...
Even a printout from the computer in the workshop..I thought thats what the idea was having a computer in the workshop, several ppl ineffect can work from 1 big manaul at the same time.
Thu a projector hooked to the computer would be cool lol
Mat Klemp Nov 1st, 06, 05:06 AM I would probably drop a tool on the disc, then have the cheap garage computer go bad, then go look it up in the book....
Now that my son made the house wireless. I need to have the computer in the garage!

KELVINATOR Nov 16th, 06, 07:37 PM Yes! A search function would be awesome!
67FamilyFun Nov 16th, 06, 07:55 PM Ive never seen it, but the The Team Camaro store has a CD for sale that has:
"1969 Chevrolet chassis service, 1969 Chevrolet overhaul service, 1968 Fisher body service, 1964-72 parts,"
http://www.worldcomputing.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=camaro&Category_Code=M1
I'd love to have the AIM digitally, but in general copywright law covers a work for 70 years...even if out of print, etc. That being said...I'd still like to have it digitally if anyone was selling it. :)
