im just curious as to how much it would cost to do a full restoration on a 67-69 camaro if you did all the work yourself and if you had some one else do all the work.

The sky is the limit, it depends on what you do. Paying someone for a complete restoration could run $50,000 or more. I did all the work on my car, completely refurbished everything several years ago, and spent about $30,000.

That question is way to vague.....a lot depends on the condition of the car and what parts you have and what parts you need to buy....but for ballparks, figure somewhere between 400 & 1000 man hours....times that by your local labor rate and bingo....Plus parts of course......a very vague answer....but thats the best I can do...

BTW, I spent about 25K in parts & paint for the last resto I did....and I did all of the labor.....and that was a half ass job to boot!

I had a good car to start with, I'm done with all the heavy stuff... bushings, rust removal, all four corners reworked and upgraded to disc brakes on the front, rearend rebuilt with posi, floorpan prepped, engine(crate) and trans Tremec 5spd bought and ready to go in,getting ready to go to body shop for cut in,then back for motor install etc, then back to body shop for final paint....total to date $17,000.00,total body shop will be $7500.00,total all else...interior,emblems,and all the other endless array of stuff that will crop up to finish the car...estimate $5000.00. Add that up you get $29500.00,but thats just my story...and I did most of the work myself and farmed out about 30%

I tore mine down to pretty much nothing and pulled off subframe, put in new bushings , bearings , balljoints and sandblasted then repainted subrame. Stripped body to bare metal, painted with Dupont Chroma One. Replaced front and rear glass also deck lid, both front fenders, left rear quarter, hood, doorskin, floor, headliner, vynil door panels and complete engine rebuild and new radiator for less than $4000. Its no show car by any means but a nice driver, see my sig.

I'm doing a rotisserie restoration on my 67 Firebird. Any part with a little rust gets cut out and replaced, as do all body panels that have been repaired previously. This means new floors, trunk pan, rear wheel wells, one shock tower, 2 full 1/4's, and the upper cowl. All new glass, weatherstripping, trim, emblems, wiring, interior items (seats/carpet,headliner, sunvisors, all brackets/screws/bolts), all new fuel/brake systems/ entier drivetrain rebuilt, etc.,etc.,etc. In otherwords, everything. I have about $20,000 in parts, $500 in maching work on my block, $1100 in my cylinderheads, and all the work done by me except the paint job (my bodyman/ best friend owes me one), and I'll end up right around $30k when I'm done.

It would help if you narrowed the scope a little. Is the car going to be a driver, drag or show car? Is it going to be rebuilt with stock parts, repo or NOS, or will it be modified custom build? How soon do you want it done?

These are some of the bigger variables and the $$$ required will vary drastically. I can tell you one thing though it will cost more than you estimate! The nickel & dime ($50 & $100) items add up fast.

Thats what saved me tons of money - my paint and body guy worked with me for free ( now I owe him ) and my engine guy owed me and did all the machining and assembly on the motor for free all I paid for was parts. Nice little street motor , forged pistons , stainless valves etc.
