Is it difficult to replace the sub frame bushings? I have all the front sheet medal off my 68 coupe and the engine and trans are out too. Would this be a good time to replace them?

Do a search on the subject, it's been covered in detail. Depends on your mechanical aptitude I guess, and the condition of your old bushings and mounts. If you've got alot of rust, it can turn into a real headache. Some guys have said they've done the whole job in 2 hours, it took me several weeks to accomplish mine, but I was in no hurry, and I had some rust problems. I had to soak one radiator support bushing for about a week before it finally broke loose. Only advice I can give you is to start with the radiator support on either side, and work your way back. If your bushings are as bad as mine were, you'll be very surprised at the results! Well worth the effort, just make sure and do it right the first time.......KZ

I had my first experience with subframe bushings this past Summer. No previous experience so learned along the way. We sprayed WD-40 on bolts and let sit overnight. Also used an air ratchet to break the bolts loose. We did discover(after taking the mounts out) that the frame holes were not in good shape so ended up doing some cutting and welding. I would advise you to repalce the rubber in any case. If I did it....you can do it!

I also recently did mine. As a Camaro novice, I used one of the Camaro restoration books. Took about 5-6 hours, taking my time, with a little elbow grease especially on the radiator bushings to get the clearance to get the new ones in. If you need the name of the book, let me know. Good luck.

how do the 1.5 inch lowering subframe bushings work? are they worth the effort? someone mentioned in another post that they screwed with the angle of the power steering arm, etc. is this the case? thanks.
