On my 86 I made mounting plate for two amps on flat part of rear deck directly behind rear seats out of carpeted ½” plywood. Cut and grooved underside for wiring and separated audio from power wires. Ran power cables to front of car down right side (battery side) and audio cables down left side (drivers side) of car. Wiring comes up right next to amp connections through drilled holes.
For woofers made custom mounting plate shaped to fit trunk well space. Woofer plate fits right up against amp mounting deck plate. Mounted two 12” woofers with capacitor mounted in between. Made small ledge pieces and screwed them in to wheel side plastic and rear area on both sides of trunk latch area, then put two handles on either side toward rear of mounting panel (trunk latch area).
Be careful if screwing in plate on flat top area behind seats. It is right above gas tank. Use only long enough sheet metal screws to just catch bottom and go all the to farthest outside edge of plate as possible.
I ran monster cable up to audio head. Power for capacitor and amps comes from enclosed clear see through double fused junction block mounted on the right wheel well cover next to amps. Main power cable to battery fused at battery positive terminal.
It sounds really good.

I recently built a ported box for two 12's. It measured in at just under 2.4 each side, didn't leave any room but it sure does beat down.

well if its not a t-top car you can find a box or build one with a little custimazation for it and drop the box where the t-tops would go me and my brother have it done to our cars and it would sound really really nice.

Im my 84 camaro i just simply took a piece of mdf and cut to fit tightly in between the trunk and mounted my two subs as close as the could to the side of the trunk.( on each side). Then mounted my amp in the middle of the two subs and it bumps extremely good. dont port ur subs you will get plenty of air circulating throughout ur car for ur subs to breath.

Here's a pic of my custom box in the trunk of my '92 RS. I'm building a new for my new 12" subs next week so I can get you the dimensions if you want them.
