I prime first and then use GLAZING PUTTY. The primer sticks to the metal better and the GLAZING PUTTY sticks to the primer better.

GLAZING PUTTY just cost more, about 3 times more. But I metal finish all my work until there is less than 1/32"

GHow much body repair are you talking about? If you use an epoxy primer you can apply the plastic filler over it. This is a good way to go, think about it.

All metal is pretty good, but not as a general filler. Only use all metal where the welds are, then finish it with filler or galze. the only thing harder about a glaze than a filler is putting it on, its thinner, so use a coat of it when your other filler work is done to smooth everthing out. It actually sand much nicer than body filler.
The epoxy is a nice way to go, I use a coat of metal etching wash primer then a coat or two of epoxy before starting filler work (on larger areas).
