View Full Version : Did my Z28 come with a trunk mat????
W.A.C Nov 8th, 06, 09:00 AM Hello,
I almost picked one up the other day but was not sure if my car came with a trunk mat.
Its a X33 car.
Has the 5Z21AC Style Trim Group option. Not sure what that includes.
From this info, did this thing come with a trunk mat?
Thanks,
freezined Nov 8th, 06, 11:08 AM My understanding is if you have the custom interior your car will have the trunk mat.
Hopefully someone will chime in to confirm or deny.
William Nov 8th, 06, 11:11 AM Trunk mat with Z87 Custom Interior only.
Z21 on a Z/28 included bright trim on the drip rails, headlamps, tail lamps, rear quarter louvers, wheel opening moldings. Also black painted rocker panels except colors 51, 57, 61, 67.
W.A.C Nov 8th, 06, 11:16 AM Thanks for answering both of my questions. I will save my $$ on the trunk mat....
zdld17 Nov 8th, 06, 01:06 PM But the mat does make the trunk look cleaner and protect splatter paint . I do lots of cruising and it really helps. Small tool box, fire ext, show and shine stuff , then you got the jack itself that strapped to floor. Serves my needs,, mats are expense items.
PS, watching NTC web site for a good camaro gathering,, if you see one, drop me a pm.
W.A.C Nov 8th, 06, 03:14 PM Its also nice to show off that original splatter paint.......:)
RamAirDave Nov 8th, 06, 06:12 PM I believe the hood insulation was included with the trunk mat on custom interior cars.
smith69z Nov 9th, 06, 06:15 AM Not sure about the hood insulation. My RS Z has the insulation and from the looks of it its original. No custom interior, just X33 model style.
William Nov 9th, 06, 11:12 AM All ZL2 hoods had insulation.
Trunks received 'spatter' paint, not 'splatter'...
Stewie Nov 9th, 06, 05:39 PM I bought one new in 1969, it was an x33 with style trim, D80, flat hood and console tack, and radio delete. Rallye Green with standard interior. It was a pure race car. It had no insulation and a trunk mat. I know it did because the trunk leaked and I had to take it out every time I had to soak up the water. It was not like the ones you buy today that are a thick rubber. It had the same design on it but was almost a cloth.
And no I do not have the radio delete plate. It went in the glove box with the car.
I can only guess that the car was a back up in case the Dealer who was a Trans Am racer, wrecked his original car. I have yet to see another with so many deletes and so few options.
Unreal Nov 10th, 06, 01:32 PM About 2 years ago, there were a few really nice new repop trunk mats floating around ebay that were 20-25 years old. Those were not expense items!!
