When you open the either door. Does the rear console light go on w/ the front ones? I am going to switch a wire do do this. I just don't remember which way the factory does it. Thanks Brian

the same orange and white wires that run the courtesy light circuit go into the console and light the rear light too.

Have you checked it yet? pull the ashtray and take a peek. Sometimes that whole mess melts down, the bulb gets hot.

Heard there is an led replacement for it, but don't know the particulars

I thought there was no "dome light" in the convertible. I reasoned because there is no power in the back where the coupe's dome light circuit would be, that's why the trunk light has to connected to the parking/tail light circuit. Where is this rear light located?

Right. The verts use the same console wiring and rear console light as the coupes, plus the "add-on" harness that plugs in at the top of the drivers side kick panel which wires both underdash courtesy lights and the pass side door switch.

I pulled the fuse out on my vert back when I was showing it and have never really missed it.

I wish I has more light. Way back when, on a 67 vert I had, I put in a rearview mirror I found from an early 70's chevelle. It had a light in it! with a switch! That was great.

If you drive it with the top down you can use the moonlight.LOL I just never really thought the lights under the dash did alot of good the console light helped the back seat riders I suppose

I would just like it to work. Back seat riders are discouraged. Brian
