I've built a 69 RS/SS to a high standard. That being a complete re-skin, all metal straight and soild. Drive line is a 540 @ 9.5-1 comp cams extream cam, .552 in .555 ex. M-21 center force twin disk clutch, BE 12 bolt with a 4.10 for now going to swap in a 3.42 later 4.10 kind of steep, well kind of is an understatement. The motor on the dyno made peek HP of 635 @ the fly wheel, the tq curve is flat off idel to 6200. Peek Hp is @ 6000. all strokers make killer Tq. I've added subframe connectors no mini tubs just a rolled lip, fitting 285/50/17 and yes they fit no rubbing, pay attention to shock and leaf interferance, not the wheel house. I've added master power brakes up front drilled & slotted, Wilwood pro brakes out back with internal parking brakes.
The whole package has been lowered big time, I have Hotkins lowering springs up front with a coil cut giving me a total of 3 in drop and Hotkins leafs out back with 1 in lower blocks added to trim the level. In all the car sits nice and level and low in the weeds, My rocker is right at 6in off the ground and level.
I know the next question is do I have room for ex and the under pinnings. Yes but it was a chore to get it all to fit right. I have shorty headers and 3 in to muffler then 2.5 out back. Not to say I don't knock the bottom from time to time but hey it looks great, and drives perfect. I only knock the bottom if I'm not paying attention to dips and speed bumps. Pro touring to me is a car that looks as good as it works. I can drive this car from coast to coast if needed, but we all know with a 540 who can afford it lol, at 5 miles to the gallon on a good day, well Bill Gates might be able to go coast to coast in my car. I'm about finished with all the small stuff then on to paint. I'm going factory colors & trim 76E with 714 Int. I'm going to change to top color to black don't really care for the parchment with yellow. I'll post some pic's soon. If you want some send me a mail At mogmiler@aol.com

You say "Pro touring to me is a car that looks as good as it works" and then describe a car that seems like it would be extremely nose heavy, needs to be eased over bumps and gets 5 mpg, with your discussion of suspension consisting entirely of how low the car is.

A pro-touring car, to me, is one that could be comfortably driven 2,000 miles and, at the end of the trip, taken on a road course without embarrassing itself.

You have a car to be proud of, but based on your description I'd say it's a car that's lowered with pro-touring styling influences.

I think what's important here is not what "we" classify the car as but how you classify the car and are you happy with it? Your car sounds very nice (hint pictures would help) but does it have to fit in a specific catagory for us to give you approval? I don't think so. A nice car is a nice car and can be influenced by any build style. If the car is what you want then everything is fine if it's not change what you're not happy with until you are happy. Then get out there and enjoy it.

We all know for your car to be protouring, you must have 20" wheels, Baer brakes, and air ride suspension. Duh
