So it looks like i'm gonna order some lowering blocks for the 67. I just need some pics of what they look like installed. To help me better understand how they go in, and what length U bolts i'll need if my current ones aren't long enough. Thanks!

Here's a pic of my rear suspension. Looking at those U bolts, i'm thinking i'll need longer ones if i'm going with a 1" Lowering Block?

And I know, my rear end is uuuuuugly! It's one of the last things I have to do. I'm gonna have it rebuilt soon, so it'll be just as nice as the rest of my car.

Looks like you have mono perches which are common on a '67. No room for the block without some mods. The top leaf along with the spring bolt is all that's holding the rear end in place now from the posibility of it sliding sideways off the spring. It's fine like it is but multi-leaf perches are much deeper and really needed with a lowering block. To answer the question the block goes on top of the spring between the spring and the perch which raises the rear towards the car and in effect lowers the car.

Like Robert said... If the spring locating pin fits securely in a hole in the lowering block, which itself has a pin that fits securely in a hole in the perch, that should be ok. I personally would not do it.

So would it be better to switch to multi leaf perches if i'm going with lowering blocks. I'm gonna go 1" at the most. Thanks!

The perches would have to be cut off and new ones welded on. Not a task for the average Joe and the blocks are still somewhat a compromise. In your other thread cfunk mentions de-arching the springs which is probably a better choice but I'm not sure how that would affect the Hotchkis leafs. These springs don't have much of an arch to them to start with as compared to stock springs.

I'm gonna rebuild the rear end anyways, so I can get the different spring perches put on then. And while we're on the subject of perches, this is the top one we're talkin about, right? And so lowering blocks aren't reccommedned because they'll squirm side to side? Just making sure i'm getting all the info straight. And about de-arching the leafs, how do you do that? And like you said, these Hotchkis ones aren't that arched to begin with compared to the stockers. What to do, what to do............

Well if you're planning on spending some bucks on it then I think some custom fab work with the perches would be in order. The right guy could build in a 1" steel block with a multi leaf perch to boot. I think you need some advice from "big gear head" (Freddie). Hop over to trans/driveline forum look him up and PM him to look at this thread. He's always ready to help and is the "man" when it comes to the rear axle.

Thanks! I'll do that.
