i was thinking about the jegs or CE sub frame connectors. i want to weld them in. but i dont want to notch out the floor. from other forums it seems like the "weld-in" needs to notch and the "bolt in" dosent.....could i buy the bolt in...and just forget about the bolts and weld them in? any opinions?

No, I have bolt-on Jegs on my car now and basically all I did was take Cornholio's advice and push them up into place using a small floor jack FINE!!
I figure if in the future I want to, I will weld them in place solid!!

I have CE's and you get what you pay for. If want an upgrade look at Globalwest connectors you will not have to notch the floor. If you go with the CE's you may want to notch out the slot to eliminate having anything to do with the subframe bushings. You will also have to pound the floor up on the drivers side. I just put a jack under there and jacked it up until the connector fit right.

I've got the Global West sfc's, very happy with them, although I haven't driven the car yet. I can say that they do fit very well. I think the Hotchkis connectors are very good too. Here's a couple of pics of the Global West connectors on my '68

Jeg's sub-frame connectors welded in just fine. Make sure you take the body mount bushings out first. Nice and solid for 4+ years now. I didn't want to cut the floor or weld the rear.

ok somebody explain to me why it is so critical to weld in sfc's. I have the CE's that are a total bolt in with no mods to the floor, and they are rock solid provided they are torqued properly. I check them periodically and there is no change. Unless you are racing, how do you justify the higher prices and installation hassle of cutting into the floor, welding etc. The CE's are only $110 at Jegs and they work great on my 71....i just dont see the need for anything better so plan on getting the same ones for the 67. Dont forget these cars were designed without them so anything is an improvement.

Bolted in will never be as stable as welded for a subframe, thats the only response I can think of? I originally had bolt in ones and was taking the car to test n tunes before deciding to cut the floor and put in welded ones. The change in the car was very noticeable in stiffness. Not only on the track but also in general driving and handling the car was stiffer. I would never do the floor cutting unless I absolutely needed it and if your not constantly racing I dont think I would install welded in bars either.

Hi just another question how far do the CE bolt ins hang down when installed? can you see alot of them ? thanks
