View Full Version : Voltage Regulator Fuseable Link?

Hi guys:

I was having a problem with my battery draining sometimes. In looking at everything I could see, the 4 pin connector to the voltage regulator had a fuseable link in the third spot. The wiring diagram in my AIM only shows a 10 R charging wire and doesn't mention anything about a fuseable link. Replacing it seems to have worked but the weather has been really bad so I haven't been able to get the car out to verify it.

Does anyone else have a fuseable link in the third position from the left on the connector to the voltage regulator? BTW I have a 68 396 L78.

Thanks

Mark

yes, there is a fusible link there. That connection is the regulators "voltage sense" wire and it comes straight out of the main splice. The reg doesn't really draw any current there, but a reg failure could meltdown the whole electrical system without that fusible link.

See pics in the "what it is Where it is" sticky in electrical, get fusible links at madelectrical.com
