Hey guys, I came across this 5-speed and was wondering what a good price is for it.

THE TRANNY IS RATED AT 600 FT LBS OF TORQUE

Less than 3000 miles on it.

What is fair?

Thanks

New they go for around $2000 so I would guess $1500-1700 might be right for a slightly used one. Just make sure it has the GM input shaft. Also, be prepared to spend another $400-700 for a crossmember, clutch setup, shifter setup, shortened driveshaft if you plan on putting it in an older GM car.

I shopped around and got mine for $1500 new in a crate. Its a general rule of thumb any available speed part is worth 1/2 its price used. I'd pay no more than $1000-1200 tops.

So I take it that $550 is a steal? with shifter (for mustang)

I shall act on this ASAP!

CHECK THAT INPUT SHAFT!!!

A Ford trans won't help much into a Camaro.

Yea, I guess I was caught in the heat of the moment. I believe he said it was a 31 spline. Sound familiar?

31 is the spline count on the output shaft. If it is a 600, the input spline will be 26 either Ford or GM, but the length and pilot are different, as well as the mounting flange (I think). The surest way to know is get the tag info off the side, and look for the model number (will start TCET####).

if it's a really good buy, lakewood does make an "adapter" bellhousing which will fit the "ford style input shaft. It comes with a special throwout bearing to deal with that too.

Note that while I know these parts exist I've never used them. There could be additional issues I'm not aware of. Shifter position is very possibly one. The adapter bell is deeper and may move the trans back and cause clearance problems. The fit of a TKO in a firstgen tunnel is VERY tight.

Research this a lot before you jump on it, also make sure you can resell the trans for more than you paid if it turns out to be more hassle than it's worth.
