Dave:
I did a search on front coils springs and read every thread and most of the postings to get info. I have a 1968 Coupe with Small block and no air, auto. The current set up is drum brake non power. I am going to update to a power disc brake set up. I am using the aftermarket set that I will be getting from one of the Camaro Parts suppliers up here in Canada. I will have them professionally installed. At that time I want to change out the coils because I think the fronts are big block. The car sits way too high in the front. I have no idea what the springs are, but there is a difference of an inch, the driver side being lower.
I printed a copy of your Chart Titled "Tangential ends--I.D. Sequence.
My question is: I am thinking of using the 6308 Spring instead of the 6312, but I am a little confused about the Approx. Free Hgt measurements. 14.981 compared to 16.086.
Every other dimension is the same yet the spring load rate is 40 lbs higher on the 6308. Is it just the tensile strength of the steel that gives it the higher rate, and will this spring drop my ride height by an inch or more? I have 5 leaf rears on it.
I would like to keep the handling but lose some height.
I just checked and I have 27 1/4 drivers, and 28 1/4 passenger with 235/60/15 tires.
I am hoping that I can come to about 25 to 26 max on both.
Also, is there anything that I should replace while the job is being done, that would not incur any other labour charges.
The car will be a cruise night, and local show car. Some highway travel mostly under 100 miles.
Thanks for any info.

The 6308 is shorter so it's stiffer. Imagine the spring cut in half, it would be twice as stiff, shorten a spring by 10%, it's 10% stiffer. However, stock type coils have the ends flattened (tangential) the end coils collapse enough to touch the next coil so they are not active in springing the car. When one end is cut off to adjust ride height, the seat they fit in is tapered too so they don't lower the car much until the first coil is removed.

I think the 6308 would be a nice spring for you.
I'd give the suspension the once, over. Replace any bad steering links or balljoints, The idler arm is usually the first thing to wear out. Check the A arm bushings and subframe bushings and bolts. If there is any rust around the subframe bolts, remove them and inspect them, also where the subframe mounts sit on the frame brackets can rust.
This would be a good time to install an aftermarket ant-iroll bar, Addco bars are sold through Summit or many parts stores. http://www.addco.net/ You probably don't need a rear bar, the Addco bar is pretty soft and doesn't do much.

Dave thanks for the information. I will try them out. Now all I have to do is find a dealer up here. I guess I should call on any other Cannucks that have found a local supplier. I am in the Niagara area, but I am in Hamilton, and the Toronto area a lot.
I will make sure to check out the whole front end and refubish any bad parts.
Thanks again.
