View Full Version : The 67 is here...
Lost in the 60's Nov 20th, 06, 08:41 PM It arrived about 4:45 on Sunday. Looks just like the ebay pics......from 20 ft away. The seller told me it was rough and considered it a "project". He was correct. The body is in VERY good condition, but slapped together for a quick sale. Only the headlights work....nothing else. The manual steering box is so worn, the steering wheel has over a 1/4 turn of slack before the worn out pitman arm moves. He did tell me it felt "loose". I drove it about 1 mile tonight and that will be the last it sees of the road till the front end is straightened out.

BonzoHansen Nov 20th, 06, 08:46 PM Nice. Solid metal is paramount!
2x67rs/ss Nov 20th, 06, 09:09 PM Well good luck at least you have alot of friends to help you with your project right here! At least you have a (hopefully) solid body to start with it could be worse.Front ends are pretty easy.Wiring a little more difficult but everything is available now days.Just takes lots of time and Money!
Everett#2390 Nov 21st, 06, 05:11 AM Darn nice 20 footer!!! Looks like a 10 footer.

markr Nov 21st, 06, 07:21 AM Yeah...that body looks like a 10 footer to me too.
I bought a solid chassis car as a top priority as well.
How is the drivetrain ?
What's in it ?
apbtrock Nov 21st, 06, 09:26 AM I was watching that auction while it was listed, car looked good from the pics he showed. Looks like there might be just a tiny bit of rust on the drivers wheelopening? Its definetly at least a 10'er, should be able to work it out no problem, and probably saved a load of cash by buying this "project" with a solid body as well ;)
sleepsinshed Nov 21st, 06, 10:04 AM Very nice color, but then I'm biased...
Bowtie-72 Nov 21st, 06, 10:07 AM Looking forward it seeing it around next summer.

No, I didn't and my time to file a miss-represented claim with ebay is running out. I emailed him 10 days ago and he said he had a good prospect, but no cash exchanged....would keep me posted. Guess I'll email him 1 more time and let him know I'm going to ebay next. Didn't want to be a d!nK about it, but it really was a miss-representation.
My other venture is an 88 IROC that is now for sale.
The 70 Z25 is a basket case with many thousands of dollars of parts sitting here waiting for "someday". I have an original LS5 for it. I pulled it out of the original car in 76 for an LS6 and then had to sell the car....whole nuther story.... I sold it to my then brother-in-law and he had it till 2 years ago when I got it back for this car. It still has the factory stamp on the block and I was able to piece together the complete VIN and went to the DMV to see if it still existed. It did and I was able to talk to the current owner and actually go look at it. It was cobbled together and half-a$$ed pro streeted. The owner was impressed that I had the original engine and was willing to sell me the car back as a roller.....for $8,000. I probably should have bought it, but I didn't feel it was worth it at the time. I just called him last week and he had sold it 2 months ago. The new owner isn't interested in selling it now. Oh well.

Thanks, guys....
If you get closer than 10 feet, you see where it was painted over the rock chips, scratches, dirt and anything else that was on it....I'm not sure if they even washed it. The speck on the wheel opening is paint that already flaked off. I can scratch the paint off with my thumb nail. No shine and nothing there to buff, so it is what it is for now. I can find at least 5 different colors on it !! Originally Red, then Blue, White, Burgundy and I believe 2 coats of Butternut. It may have been this color when the quarters were replaced and they just shot it quick to sell it. The floors are original and very clean...as are the rear frame rails and shock towers !! She's a good builder....like 2X67 said....I just need time and money.....LOTS of money.:D
3SuperSports Nov 21st, 06, 06:34 PM Looks good from here. Congrats.

This must be the first time in history someone has taken a red car and painted it Butternut Yellow. Usually it's the other way around!
green68camaro Nov 22nd, 06, 12:15 PM Looks like a much better one than I looked at for you.Now get busy!

I'm relieved and saddened to hear that, Frank...I was second guessing my purchase before you had a chance to look at the swap meet and I can't believe what one gets for the cost !!

If it had been Red, I wouldn't have considered it. I don't like red cars. Could be I'm a little attracted to Yellow.
