I am in need of a distributor shaft and lower bushing for my 69, does anyone know where to get these items? I tried Ebay with no luck. I did a search online and only found Corvette gear drive shafts and bushings. I am putting an ad in the wanted section to see if any members may have a shaft. Any help would be appreciated.

You could probably just buy a used dist and pirate the shaft. I assume you have a numbers housing? A used dist is pretty cheap. Hopefully you don't get shafted on the deal.

Check with an shop that rebuilds starters. They used to have an assortment of bronze bushing for starter housings. They may just have the size you need, if its too long, cut it with a tubing cutter or hack saw. I know this as we used to sell these a loooonnng time ago.

They can be purchased...I needed to rebush mine a few yrs ago...
What with shiping to NZ etc it was cheaper for me to get the shaft metal sprayed with a Al /bronze alloy and ground to a little over stock.
Then I put in new bushes and with a line reamer made to the size of the shaft diameter.
Far cheaper and faster than messing around waiting for new parts.

Thanks for the replies. Don, I think the Ebay distributor is my best bet, may take a couple to get a good one. Al, I'll check the starter rebuild shops around here.

Greg,
Have you tried your local Chevy dealer ? You need one that has some good parts guys, but GM used to make a kit that had the shaft and wieghts etc. Might still be available, you might be surprised.
Also, try emailing Wally at muncie4speed.com , he still has a lot of distributor stuff but I think most of it is Vette stuff.

maizedog- You can buy the bushings from Corvette Central, part # 272160 for upper and lower- $21.95 . The install tool is # 272161- $ 8.95.
Shaft are availiable from High tech Inovations. Inc, they also handle the bushings.
After install the bushings sometimes need reaming.
Hope This Helps. Mike.
