So I have my Mini tubs for my 67 vert. Has anybody else done this yet. I am a little worried about sectioning the frame because our verts are a little weak to start. And there is the extra panels in behind the seat that need to be fitted too.

Has anybody done this yet? I can't be the first.......

I am sure you have checked out DSE web site. Here is some pics from a loal chassis builder doing one.http://www.dragracebrakes.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=246
I used the mini tubs without the rest of the kit on my hard top.I dont believe sectioning the frame will be a issue even on the convertible.Good luck

Been there, done that, got a tee shirt. I would NOT suggest it without a roll bar / back brace set up.

Hey Frank,

I need to understand why you do not suggest it with out the bar. Im not trying to be argumenitive. I just dont see the mini tub kit making the car any weaker than it all ready is. Im a man of simple logic, and I have done a complete mini tub kit on a coupe. If you are simply moving the inner wheelhouses in 2.75 inches and then shortening all the existing support hardware between the wheelhouses and adding the rigidity of the upper shock tower(frame rail to frame rail), why would it be necessary to add the bar? With the addition of the dse frame connectors wouldnt the car then be much stiffer than it was? Lets take into consideration this car is less than 450 rear wheel HP. Your thoughts?

BTW- just got the superchevy mag, the car is phenomenal!!

Thanks Rich

Thanks on Super Chevy. The kid earned it. There is a major super structure 3 layers thick behind the back seat that gets compromised.. The car gets VERY weak and will twist like crazy. At Pigeon Forge last year we had one show up, and the driver door would not open after a day of launching at the track. We had to kick the door open and remove a shim from the door striker, on a door that was perfect that morning.

I might be mistaken, but I am pretty sure DSE does not do convertibles. We did one on our website, Pete's Camaro, there are some pics of the roll bar and bracing. Go to the ProdigyCustoms.com. projects, current projects, Pete's Camaro. It was pretty felxy before the bracing.

I am planning/designing a roll bar that will shoot back and tie into the rear frame in two spots. I think if I can get a little extra "skeleton" back there by running from the roll bar to above the the axle (the weakest point) and extending back to as far back on the frame as I can, I can keep the whole back of the car from folding. I also thought that some extra 1/4" plate welded over the frame sections might be prudent.

I am getting the Lateral Dynamics 3 link so the whole rear of the car will be custom and I will brace as needed.

Thanks for the input
