My Girlfriend has been on me for a christmas list so I need to show her what I want asap. My 68 Camaro is in desperate need for some new leafs in the rear. It has a problem with the passenger rear tire hitting the quarters, when I take some bad dips never a problem with the drivers side. It has 5 leafs on it now. Im looking at some 1st generation camaro catalogs and notice the 5 leafs rated at 143lbs is $165 but all the other leafs mono to 4 leafs that are rated 126lbs are 199.95 that seems backwards to me. I was going to tell her to get the 5's but why are the others more expensive?

The shocks are 1 1/2 years old that I replaced that helped with the rear suspension some but how much wear do you suppose they took on bad leafs think I should replace them?

Thanks

the five leafs are more stout than the mono leafs and spring wrap will be an issue with mono leafs.
are your shocks leaking?
if not reuse them.
Its also a good idea to get some poly bushings for the springs aswell.

So I stick with the 5 leafs then? Wonder why the are $35 cheaper. I was going to pick up the harware kit to replace all the ubolts ect.

I'd get the 143#er's or whatever, but that said, they probably aren't correct re-pop's is all if that even matters to you??

I bet if you really look close, that your pass. side spring stack has a couple of broken leaves. Probably the bottom and third up ones..

Just guessing..

My old '68 'Bird 5-leaf multi's ended up that way after years of abuse.

The one's I installed after I broke a mono..

That's not really true b/c JCW's cheap, 3-leaf mono replacements are fine, imho!!
