When I first tried to start it, it backfired once through the carb and once thru the exhaust. I found that the distributor was 180* out and fixed that. Now it won't even backfire. Is my cam 180* out????

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Jeff...
To be honest, start all over. Take the plug out of the number 1 cylinder and bring up to the compression stroke. Put your finger in the hole, with the coil wire off the coil, and have someone crank it untill your finger gets blown out of the hole. Take the cap off the distribuitor and it should be in the area of the number 1 spark plug wire. If correct then check the firing order..18436572 and put all back together and try to start.

just to take away your worry
you cannot install a cam 180 out...
it will work exactly with the mark on the cam at either 12 or 6 o'clock
