COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP? WHEN IT RAINS LATELY WATER ACCUMULATES ON THE FLOOR OF THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND WATER ON THE DOOR OR WINDOWS JUST IN THE VERY CENTER OF THE FLOOR. I DON'T KNOW WHETHER TO TAKE IT TO A AUTO GLASS SHOP OR A MECHANIC. HELPLESS!!!! BY THE WAY I HAVE A 93' PONTIAC SUNBIRD.

Kimberly, I am not real familiar your with your car, but this should work for any make. Have a friend sit in the passenger seat while you use a garden hose to put water on the car. Use a direct stream and start by spraying into the vents that are right by your windshield wipers, then work your way up and around the edges of the windshield. If no water, lift the hood and spray water on the firewall on the passenger side while your friend looks under the dash. Your friend should be able to see where the leak is and how water is getting into the car. My guess is A) your windshield seal has a leak letting water get in or B) there is a leak somewhere around the heater core or some area on the firewall. I guess the last thought would be, does the floor on the passenger side have a hole or has it rusted through so water splashes up and soaks into the carpet?

Another thing to try is put the vent blower on high and close all windows and doors, spray a soapy mix of dawn dishwashing detergent & water around the windows and look for bubbles.

If you put the car in the garage and use a lit cigarette instead of the soap, the smoke might show the leak.

check the floorplugs, had the same problem on my car, the floorplugs, usually used to drain water out of a car when it gets flooded somehow got loose and was letting water into the car as it was driven.

another source pf these type of leaks are leaves, open the hood and look for leaves that have found their way into the cowl area (do you park under trees???) Leaves can clog the drains that keep the water away from the vent intake.
