I believe Prinedia may have mentioned something about this engine. Check out these web sites:

I have it here somplace, but can't recall which magazine title it is off the top of my head. What I do recall, however, is that the 330HP rating was with a 600cfm 1850 Holley. They swapped that carb for the 3310 750 Holley and the engine went from 330 HP to 370 HP. I think they also used an RPM A/G intake as well. Next up they tried the Comp XE 268 -- 224°/230° 110° LSA -- and gained only 7 HP to 377 HP. Goes to show how well that stocker 330HP camshaft works -- 212°/222° .435"/.460" 112° LSA -- in that 9:1 application.

Overall, an impressive engine for sure.

Have you considered upgrading the transmission and rear end ratio instead? 200-4R with a 3.73 Rear will likely give you a much better performance increase.

A 40hp carb swap  There was a little more to it then that ;) I believe they added a gm hot cam and kit, plus the larger carb, and got it up to 377hp with headers. Later they added a solid roller comp cam and got it up to about 400hp IIRC.

The 377 HP figure was with the XE 268, not the HOT cam iirc. They gained 7 HP from that cam as I recollect. The 3310 picked the engine up hugely over the 600 cfm carb. They added the solid roller after the XE 268 and it made 420 HP or so. I've got the article here and can go dig for it if needed.

I have done a lot of research on this subject and the best performance gain is from the gm hotcam setup and better carb. I have a 650dbl pumper, and performer rpm intake and it dynoed 291 rwhp. I then switched to a lunati voodoo 268 cam and the power band is so much wider now its amazing. I haven't been able to dyno it since but it took a couple tenths off my quarter mile time and it is much more driveable. I think the motor needs a 750 with the new cam.
