Any seen, heard of or have an opinion of using Dynamat Extreme as a hood insulation method? I think it would look cooler than the padding but more importantly what risks am I posing a perfectly new painted hood? I guess to be clear, I'm talking about cutting out pieces and affixing it where possible like you'd see on the trim of an open trunk lid for example. Thanks for your opinions/ ideas.

I would think it would be too heavy. Either need serious hinge springs or a prop rod.

Thanks Dave that's the one thing I hadn't considered. You are probably right. Any other alternative materials???

The underhood heat could cause it to come loose as well.

Dynamat makes a specific 'Under Hood Liner' for $54
Audio-N-More (http://www.audio-n-more.com/sound_and_thermal_barriers.shtml) has it for $54, they also have a 'cascade' brand for $49
