What is the preferred product for sound deadening and heat shielding?
If changing from deluxe seats to Houndstooth, does the foam need to be chandes and if so where can it be found? or can an upholstery guy make what he needs?

welcome to Team Camaro, use our Search feature and type in 'sound deading, or heat shield' or 'dynomat' or 'fat mat' or similar words, there are tons of threads talking about them.
My upholstery guy installed new foams in my seats along with new springs I got from GroundUP. He even beefed up the seat portion for extra cushion for this old butt.
Im not sure but I dont think houndstooth is different makeup of material or size, Just different colors.
Most good upholstery guys will help you out alot. :)

i've heard of some people using peel and seal from lowes/home depot, pretty much a home version of dynomat, i'm told it tends to stink though.

i'm impressed with their product for both sound deadening and heat insulation. their name leaves alot to be desired.

part deux,
if you are changing from standard seats to deluxe then yes, the foam needs to be changed. if you currently have deluxe seats and want to swap to houndstooth, you still use the deluxe foam.

When I get to the interior of my '68, I'm planning on hosing it down with LizardSkin SC (sound control) and the thermal barrier. I hear it's really great stuff, albeit expensive. My two reasons for using it? (A) Anything worth its oats is generally expensive, and (B) liquid/paints can be sprayed in more areas than solid/tape can be stuck. The added benefit would be to everyone else I talk to about sound deadening/suppression and thermal barriers - I'll give my opinion.

Another area that people tend to leave out is above the headliner the factory used some form of press board and in that time it was the way to go I'm sure...I myself use the dyno mat on the roof everytime I do a headliner.... You can hear the differance when you close the car up....you'll think your in a new Benz! To your foam question I have a good guy that does all our work I have seen him do the cover changes and use the foam that was there with a little shaping and filling with some new foam....it really depends on how the shop is some guys won't want to be bothered and just install new foam....good luck in you project Tom
