: almost a driver?
69camarofast Nov 28th, 06, 01:38 PM Just wanted to find out where everyone is at, how far along are you on your Camaro or project car.
i am running, but would like to install frame rail connecters, traction bars, some day back to paint but the body/paint will have to wait for a while
i am like others here ..i don't trust anyone with my Camaro, it always seems like i have less clutch/tires, then when i had brought it to there shop:mad: ..
so where are you at on your ride, as far as being able to drive it or update us on how far along you are.:)
JimM Nov 28th, 06, 01:41 PM Up on jackstands... 4 ugly drum brakes ready to go into the trash bin, and one end of the driveshaft laying on the floor without benefit of having it's bolts undone first!
Time to order some parts!
apbtrock Nov 28th, 06, 03:15 PM ...on its own wheels for the first time in 5 years. All glass/interior out, except for the driver/passenger seats and 1/2 a shifter. Fuel lines/pump installed. Hopefully this weekend I will have the battery relocation kit installed, and have spark to the ignition. Make 3 brake lines, and I hope to drive it down the driveway and back, before the snow comes, when I will start making it "pretty".
Boy the underside of the car sure is pretty (frame, subframe, control arms, springs, rearend, disc brakes). Mocking up the old fenders and doors, wheelhouses, is really hiding the pretty quick, and making it into a "Rat rod" LOL. When people see it they say "and THIS is where all your money is going". I have to tell them with an embarassed look on my face, but look underneath! Its solid, and done right, but a single dollar hasnt been spent on the interior or exterior that isnt absolutely needed to drive the vehicle.
Guest174 Nov 28th, 06, 04:46 PM the '67....finally just just re-built and had re-issued the original vin number (public view plate had been removed). i know what i'll be doing this summer!
the'68....body work done..subframe to be re-installed weekend after next...time out for the holidays....return to the body shop for paint....back for interior work....on the road in 30-45 days before my son ships out for basic training in june..................then onto the '67
AlexFolino Nov 28th, 06, 10:03 PM Pennsylvania winter coming soon so car is under carport till spring. Will be busting my rear to get it driveable come next year this time. Going to be working 3 jobs soon so i can afford to do this but its definitely worth it!
soman Nov 29th, 06, 09:32 AM My 68 has been driveable since last June. I drove the heck out of it too. put 1200 miles on it, even drive her Thanksgiving day to the Inlaws house. I done alot of work since i bought it, and It still needs a lot of work to finish. But I got to enjoy for the summer and hopefully this coming summer will be the same while saving my coin for more parts Looking to drive her a couple days in the 2007 power tour
Mike_M Nov 29th, 06, 10:26 AM Mines coming along well, it's all one piece now, the body is pretty much done except for paint: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/mmorrison/68%20Camaro/Nov_18_06i.jpg
I need to do the wiring, brakes, rear end, driveshaft, power steering, shocks, sway bar, cooling system, alternator.... and a bunch of other stuff :( and then it will be a driver. Then the paint and interior comes after that.
67rsssvert Nov 29th, 06, 12:53 PM It's sitting on it's own four wheels, all the rust has been fixed, underneath and inside has been coated, sub frame powder coated and the suspension is done. Other than that, it's a bare body waiting for me to get time to piece it back together. I should be done in 2015 or so ......
