: Which shock ?

I need all 4 shocks for my 67 and have been looking at either Monroe Matic Plus or KYB Gas G-R-2. Are the KYB's worth the extra cost ?? Do they really provide better handling and ride ?? I don't have any experience with them, so I am leaning towards the Monroe's from past useage. Convince me the KYB'S are better.;)

md,
if the car is used as daily driver or just street use, i would suggest bilsteins over the monroes, just my $.02 worth.

Interesting....I haven't had Bilsteins come up as available for the 67 on my searchs for shocks.

It will only be a street car with possible track use 1-2 times a year. A local F-body club I'm in gets track time at BIR a couple times a summer. Would be fun to take it out.

If you really want high numbers on the skid pad, think 'sway bars' first. Shocks are really dampeners.

I went Edelbrock IAS Classics
Part # 33041 and 34046
Cheapest at AJUSA.COM
If you want the RED version instead of Cast Metal Grey these are the #s
EDL-3376 $74.95
EDL-34981 $74.95

Don't bother with the KYB or Monroe's, get the Bilstein or Edelbrocks
Here are the Bilsteins (Hotchkis HPS1000s are Bilsteins)
Hotchkis HPS 1000 shock absorbers

Right now there are NO shocks on the rear and the fronts leaked all the oil out on my floor. I gotta start more basic than skid pad numbers.:(

Brian, I'm not in a position to drop that kind of money on shocks right now. The car needs way to much rebuilding to just get it on the road. Maybe once I can actually drive and enjoy it, I will start replacing parts for better handling.

Thats too bad cuz the bilsteins are amazing. WHen you get to that point, if you go with bilsteins and have a lowered ride, your best bet is hotchkiss because they revalve their shocks. Otherwise edelbrock or bilstein would be great choices.

I know it sounds crazy to spend $300 for shocks but its worth it, no reason to spend $60 now and then another $300 later, its cheaper to float the interest on a Credit Card then to buy two sets of shocks!

Right now the car is "floating" on the credit card... Low interest promo till next June....then I need to find long term financing.

Take several out of the package and actually try them...I did, and found that the KYB's outshone all the others, and after having them on the '68 drop-top, found that they out performed the Monore's that I had on before. Just my 2 cents.

I think I still have my old KYBs somewhere. I hated them. STIFF ride. I have Edelbrock IAS now, Bilsteins someday. You can have my KYBs used if you pay shipping from 94579
