Hello, I have a 68 rs/ss. On the rear of the car, surrounding the tailights and gas cap from the trunk lid down to the top of the bumper, is what appears to be flat black in color. The car itself is butternut yellow. I believe that flat black is correct. Is my thinking correct? Thanks for any help Denis

If your rear panel is painted black, this would mean that you have a big block SS. I believe that the lower rockers will be black also. I'm not sure if flat black is correct but maybe a semi-gloss black.

Dave is right. Only the 396 had Semi-Gloss black in between the tail lights, and the RS/SS also had black under the doors. From the RS chrome molding down.

Am I missing something here. I don't think I've ever seen black paint on the rockers of a 68 camaro. As I have a 68 RS/SS I want to know if anyone else can varify this?

NORTHERN FRIEND, It depends on the color of your car, some dark colors like, black and dark green, don't get the black sills. I had a 68 Sequoia Green RS SS and it never have a black sill area.

Wow. So on a Tripoli tourquise car it would have come with the black rockers? This paint then would come up 1/4 the way up my doors cause that is where the trim is located.
Does anyone have a picture of this paint scheme??

Your 68 RS/SS should have the RS trim below the doors that run from the front lower fender across the lower rocker panels and onto the lower rear qtrs. It is at this trim line that the paint was changed useing the trim as the paint transition point.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the rockers are also black, but it seems to be more flat black in color rather than semi gloss. Maybe whoever repainted it screwed it up. I'd like to know for sure. Also for anyones info, the molding on the rockers for an rs/ss came in 3 seperate pieces, fender, door, quarter, instead of the regular one piece for the ss.
