Basically looks like you're buying a cowl tag.......and some rust.

Dec 3rd, 06, 08:50 AM
There is nothing really usuable, the cowl and firewall is what people are buying.
The steering wheel looks nice - bet it is from another car.
Hey David... your baby is still well taken care of.

There was another thread started earlier.
Here was a funny quote from that one...

"i asked if the car has any rust........."

Good one. You should have asked if the car had any....car.....
Basically, someone's buying a trim tag for close to seven grand.

So just what would a properly restored '67 nom big block convertible be worth? How much more is the pace car worth?

Pacecarjeff
Dec 3rd, 06, 09:04 AM
Properly restored - you would get your investment back.
Maybe a small profit. Maybe not, cauese everyone will know it's a rebodie.

$80K restoration -- $100K value?

Thanks Jeff - so for an investor (always some risk involved in investiing) the risk value may well be worth the investment...

What comes to mind is the fine lines between investor, collector and hobbiest.

It's a testament to the lengths that some will go to own one of these rare cars! At least I hope!
If done right, it will be a service to the hobby!

And, I would imagine that the longer you hold on to the car, the more it will be worth. So someday it might pay off.
I guess the car is worth saving. Better then crushing it.
Really was a shame to let it get SO BAD.

It would be a good idea to add that vin number to your data base . for future reference. You know some one going to build that car how we don't know yet . but my guess is it will turn up with a numbers matching motor and documentation .
How many LS6 chevelle convertibles where made ? 18 20 at best? There seems to be one on ebay every month .
and how many Camaros fakes have you guys found? Lots !! So this car is off to a good start with rare trim tag.
on the good side even if the car is done right with date code correct motor and parts it will bring very good money as it's very rare .

It has gotten so crazy you would think that eventually the "Camaro bubble" will burst at some point...then again maybe not! :clonk:

Yes - it will be important to see HOW it is built.
Will they use this frame, and cowl section, with the original rails?
Or will someone simply cut & weld that cowl into an existing car.
The first way - I will accept it as a restoration, the latter in my opinion, is a "re-creation".

And you know what? -- The original engine might still be out there.
The big blocks were special, even way back- people did not crush them.
The only thing that really prevents you from finding the block, is if it was decked.
If that happened, then you can never know.

Someone is either going to build this car for the love of the car,
or they are going to do it to make a quick buck.
It will be interesting to see - you can always tell.

I noticed in his auction he said only eight 67 camaro pace car convert. 375 horse 396 was ever built. Is this true? I What would this car be worth fully restored, and fully documented?

Pacecarjeff

This is not one of those. This is a 325hp C-1 car.
If it were found to be a 2nd Norwood L-78 car, it would be worth much more.
All of the L78 67 IPC's were LA cars, except 1.
That 1 car belongs to a friend down here in Florida.

This car will be valuable when finished, but not like one of those.

I'm glad to hear it Jeff. I have yet to buy anything to replace it yet. I'm still working on the other two, trying to get them where I want them first. Sometimes that's tough to do though.

I went to a collector car auction (Mecum) here in Kansas City last Saturday. The really rough first gens brought too much money (a horrible example went for 13k) and the really nice documented cars didn't sell. It seemed as though the demand might be starting to fade. My wife and I are going to Barrett-Jackson next year. It'll be interesting to see how high the first gen. Camaros go there.

Actually !

There is a total of 3 true L78 Norwood Pacer Cars known. There is two documented 4P L78's and one 4K.
This excludes the two actual known engineered Pace Cars that were born L78's but later re-engineered into the L35/L34 hybrids.

A third 4P L78 is being confirmed but it's too early to say quite yet.:)

OK, - only one 4K car.
Knew the one down here was different somehow.
