Friday the headliner was installed and my attention turns to the rest of the interior. I found the the OER Pillar Post Moldings seem to be too long and considering how the ends are molded your really can't trim them. Has anyone else run into this and how did you get around it?

That's strange the last OER pillar moldings I used were a little short. I looked at the pics in your sig , very nice . Tells me to get off my duff and get bussy.

Well I got them on and in reality they aren't too long, but just don't fit too well. To me they look sloppy, but I guess the average person won't notice.

I did a trial fitting on my 67 and noticed that the OER pillar moldings didn't quite fit all the way into the corner of the windshield and dash. It looks like I will have to grind the sides down to get them to fit properly. Part of the problem might be the dash pad is interfering at that point, being that it is aftermarket as well. I can't do anything about the dash pad so it is easier to modify the pillar molding. A word of advice to anyone installing OER pillar moldings.....Trial fit them first before painting....that will save you some time of going back to touch them up for scratches after modifying them.

My rolling body car didn't have these parts and a lot of others too, so I have no old ones to re-use. These will have to do for now but I'll be watching for an original set.

I reused my originals after trying to fit new OER's. Horrrible repo!! A little vinyl paint and the originals are like new. They fit so well I didn't even put the screws back in.

I massaged a pair of old repo's I had from 20 years ago with a dremel at the ends, and then double-sided 3M taped them to the pillar posts. No screws.

The OER's I had for all of a few hours,,, saw how junky they were, and immediately packed them back up and returned them. They had absolutely nothing inside them for stability for the screw to tighten down to.... just pulled the head right through the foam construction.

At least the old repo's I had were "workable" with a little grinding/manipulating.

The originals are tough to come by in good condition. I still have one original that would need refinished, and the other one is broken at the dash end.

good luck with yours.

Thats me too. My originals almost snap into place. No need for screws. My OER's, the driver was too short (1/2" on top at least) and the passenger was OK.

Same here. The OERs I received are junk. Terrible fit at both ends and the reliefs for the screws do not line up with the screw holes. I installed one and the top screw ripped out the top of the molding in less than a week.
