This has probably been asked a zillion times. How do I know that the car I am going see see is really a SS/RS car? I have limited knowlege or enough to get in trouble. Are there things I should look for right off...disk brakes...fuel lines...12 bolt rear...multi leaf springs? There must be some give away items to look for. I know there are a bunch of cars badged with SS emblems.
Any tip or clues would be appreciated

Gary Everything you mentioned is correct. You can also look for the brake valve on the drivers frame rail under the door. Gauges and Tach, BB engine frame mounts, heater box and crossmember if it was a BB SS. As for the rs stuff. Back-up lights below the rear bumper. On 68-69's look for the grommet in the firewall where the vacuum lines would pass through. The headlight switch would be a vacuum type. There's more, I'm sure others will add.

Have you checked the rear seat bulkhead for any type of crayon markings?

Gary, I believe the guages and tach were optional. On a small block look for 2 fuel lines and a piece of metal welded to the frame rail located behind the driver's side rear tire that was used to mount the exhaust. Above all especially on a small block you need to have the original motor with matching numbers or of course "original paperwork". Is it a big block or small block car?
