Can anyone tell me where the VIN number is stamped (on the engine block) on a 67, Camaro RS, 327/275HP. I found the engine serial number on the pad below the right side head, but I can't find the VIN number? According to a Chilton's book I have, begining with 68 models, the VIN was stamped on the pad next to the serial number.

Only the 350s and big blocks had a partial VIN stamp in 67.

O.K. Thanks. Any way to know if this is the origional motor? I think it is, as I am the second owner. I also have lots of documentation on the car, like origional window sticker, sales contract and Protect-O-Plate. I would like to advertise it as a numbers matching car, but I need to be able to prove it.

The protecto plate should show the same assembly date of the engine as whats stamped on the block. In this situation the POP is the best source of documentation. Most would/should except casting and assembly dates of driveline components within acceptable ranges as correct and authentic when evaluating a 67 with a 327 engine. The terminology used in your ad might get tricky for you if the potential buyer is uneducated and expects partial vin stamps? My advice is to keep it simple and just list the details.

If you have the POP, the first set of numbers on the "B" line (second full line) should match the engine assembly stamp (Vxxxxyy) you found on the deck.
