My concern is the frame. I’ve got the Hotchkis X brace and frame connectors. I’m building a Dart sb 427 that will be pushing close to 600 hp. It’ll never see any strip time so no slicks. With street tires will I ever hook up enough to do any damage to the frame. The rest of my set up is good for the HP. Any one have any problems like this or should I not worry about it?

i have a 427 hp 383 motor, with a t4oo to 411 posi , i havent had any problems with mine , i also have weld in sub frame conecters, and the original single slapper bar setup , i hope this helps (i relize you have alil more gogo juice uder your hood)but without slicks you wont have any issues , you wont be able to stop spinning tires , if the wheels break ,the frame wont... enjoy your ride

My 0.02$, as much as you can afford. I have a vert with Hotchkis X, welded sub frame connects, GW leaf springs, tighter front coils, all tube arms and of course 25lb corner shakers and I'm looking for about 600hp from an LS7. Your rubber will give before your frame.......if done correctly.

I havn't had a problem yet , I run Mickey thomson drag radials the odd time and it hooks hard , it goes good enough for the guy at the track to send Me home to build a cage for it .

I'm surprised that everyone making that kind of power have no stress cracks anywhere in the paint, and the doors still shut fine.

We did a Convertible we installed a Chris Alston subframe in, a 560HP 496. We did frame connectors and a pin in roll bar. Car went 1.60 short times dangling one tire, 11.66 out the door and the body was fine. Now the top, that was a different story. Seems the top was speed limited to 114MPH. Scared the sheot out of me when it fly open in the traps, LOL! BTW, when you top flys open at 114MPH, it tears stuff up!

Yeah, mine is a little less than 114... I found out real quick this car wont be running any salt flats. It's more of a stop light to stop light car. Small price to pay for the drop top imo.

you must have a problem w/ your latches on your top, i run 11.3/125 w/ my 69 ss convertible, it has a blown 383, tremec 600 5 speed, and 4.10's in the 12 bolt, i am running a 4 point roll bar, chassis engineering weld in subframe connectors, slapper bars and 28x9.50 firestone slicks and have yet to have any problems, engine was dynoed years ago and was at 650 hp/625 ft lbs at the flywheel, most of the time i run w/ the top down(must wear arm restraints), but have run it w/ the top up at these speeds, the car is slightly faster w/ the top up, also, has anyone weighed their convertible?? my comes in at 3900 lbs

What the sheot is an arm restraint and why do you have to wear them?

when i run the car w/ the top down it is considered a roadster and you have to wear the restraints to keep your arms in the car, they attach to the lap belt of the 5 point harness
