Anyone out there have an idea on how to get reception from the FM band with out mounting an antenna outside the car. No way Im drilling into the new paint, is there a product that will plug in to the radio and do the job?

Thanks Rich

IIRC there is a "smart antenna" in one of the catalogs somewhere, I'll try to find the page. I would Google "smart antenna" and see what you come up with.

There's been a lot of discussion here. Here's one thread that came up searching "hidden antenna".

If you Google "hidden antenna", you'll get info and links to products. I bought a passive (non-amplified) unit designed for motorcycle fairings, and it is up under the dash. It worked pretty well when I tested it in another car, but I have yet to test it in the Camaro.

AutoLoc makes a really nice one. Search for a retailer online - I've found them cheaper through a 3rd party than AutoLoc directly...

I found some time ago a interior aerial a little box about 2"x1" with a metal strip aboyr 10" long attached to it....was in the discount bin of a boy racer speed shop...
I thought "5 bucks, what the hell?"
I mounted it way up behind the glove box on the firewall...works as good as the orginal aerial!!!!
And as bad...ie there is a few 100 yds of road not far from here where radios...FM AM RT go weid..and hve done so for 30 yrs...it does so also

And on a trip, way in the backcountry hills, stations vade in and out...so does this one, but not quire as bad...suprise suprise!!!

Try Radio Shack. They should be able to help.

I'm in the same boat: painted whole car and new fenders don't come pre-drilled for antennas. I thought I'd try my luck with other options. My car stereo shop installed an amplified inside antenna. It's wired and about the size of a Baby Ruth candy bar. I have it going up the passenger A pillar and lightly adhered to the upper windshield. I works ok. Not as good as a regular antenna. But since I changed out my head unit, the new one plays CDs, CD changer, and has a USB cable that reads MP3s off iPods and memory sticks. I even bring my portable Sirius tuner into the car and listen to satellite over the FM. Who needs regular radio anymore?
