I'm starting to redo my 67's console, and noticed that the top of it was sanded taking off the textured finish, is there anyway to remake that textured look? also the chrome trim is broken are they avail? thanks

You can use some texture paint but you will never match the original. I have used some chip guard in the past with fair results. Remember..as long as you do the whole console the same, its not going to look that bad. If you do just the top, it will show. Here is a link that I found where they are painting an interior with fabric paint and texture paint on a ford. BTW, the chrome parts are listed as available on SS396.cam (Ground Up ) and other parts houses like Ricks,The Paddock, Classic Industries etc..

Heck you think you have problems? about fifteen years ago I glued grey vinel all over my console and now all I want to do is strip it all off and restore it:clonk: . I think that I covered it because it had cigarette burns in it and I did not know how to repair it so I just covered it.

Actually I did an awsome job covering it with vynel, I might just recover it in black vynel this time because Im going to a black interior. Dunno yet what I'm gonna do, I think I'm just gonna see how bad it is when I remove the grey.

I will tell you what tho- I am NOT gonna spend a whole lotta doh on buying a reproduction one, I would rather repair mine. Let me know how it goes for you. here is a pic of it before I just got done tearing it all out again(just click on the pic for a larger view..........007

What kind of texture is it, what kind of color ?

If it's black textured, I believe SEM has a wrinkle texture in cans, I've used truck bed coating in spray cans on my subwoofer box, I've also seen entire center consoles in 1st Gen's coated in truckbed coating. Depending on which one you use, it can look awesome.
