ok,THE CARB problem, i think, might be solved.

Next, what happens is the left side headlight sometimes just goes out. If i shake the connection AT THE PLUG , the light comes back on.

Or if i sort of push the connector more into the light (towards the headlight) as if to make the connection plug in more, the light comes back on.

This is one of those 3-pronged deals. This is not a separate bulb-into-light assembly that you basically find on most newer cars.

Any Suggestions?

It's probably the ground wire. Check to make sure it's not loose.

You also may want to use electronic contact cleaner on the plug. It would not hurt if you spread the terminals a little apart on the headlight to insure a strong contact with the plug.

It's not real hard to remove the contacts from the plastic housing.
Bend a paper clip straight, and grind it flat. If you take the connector off the bulb and look at the end, there is a tiny notch. Pushing the paper clip into that notch will release the terminal and you can pull it out by the wire. Clean or replace the terminals. A scotch bright pad works well for cleaning them, or you can get new terminals at Napa. If you replace them solder the connection after crimping as best you can. The hardware store crimpers most of us have are not adequate to make a good connection that will last.
