Backed 69 outside, started fine. 1 hr. later went to start again. Solenoid/starter clicking and chattering. Starter turned partway over then stopped cranking. Solenoid still clacking even with ignition switch off. Had to pull negative battery terminal to stop it. Touching battery cable to battery with ignition key off starter still halfway turns over and solenoid continuosly chattered until battery cable removed again. Figured solenoid either stuck or shorted out. Never experienced this before.
Starter wires all on proper terminal and secure. Car has Tuff Stuff high torque starter three years old. heat shield and remote Ford-type solenoid mounted on inner fender.
Anybody on the board ever experience this problem or have a solution?
Thanks,
Bert
