When I first joined this site someone told me to post my tag info. I assume this is where he was talking about as he refered posting to the "Tag Team" section.. So here it is

04B R
ST 67-12637 NOR108385 BODY
TR 732-Z F-F PAINT
2LGSR 3DL
4N 5BY

I decoded this as a 67 SS/Rs Camaro marina blue in color with a 396/ 325 hp motor and a Muncie 20 tranny. Is that correct:hurray:

It tells me that your cowl tag and vin go together (they line up real well). Do you have any of the drive train codes?

I've never heard of any issues with posting VIN's. If it was a problem, then
1) most of the cars on ebay list the VIN
2) exactly what would you do with the info??
3) oh my, every car on the road has the VIN showing on the dash. They've been stealing my cars and I didn't even know it! :)

Ah Ha! I finally get to correct Kurt!!!! :hurray: My 67's VIN isn't on the dash :D :D :D (of course I know you know that but I couldn't resist)

Chris,
Ahh, but your car isn't on the road, so you your statement isn't an exception to my statement. :)

Nevertheless, it should have been "every car made in the last 39 years has the VIN showing on the dash".

The drive line is all different, presently have a 350 in it..want to go back to the 396 but a 454 is looking good also!! The car is pretty well done but true to my personality It will remain a project car. I want to go to a different color because originally it was that marina blue (yuck,,,not to offend anyone but im not a fan of it) I will probably go to a cobolt blue or something like that. I love the color it is now but would kinda like to go back to a sorta original color. I want to change the rear suspension and front suspension and make the interior more comfortable....Ill post a pic of it as it is now

im looking to buy a 396 for it. what date range should i look for that would be considered the correct dated motor . i found one that has the number of...

ENGINE DATE CODE IS A 30 7

would this work to be " matching"

Unless you can find the original 396, most people around here will recommend you just up to a 454. They look the same externally and the parts are a lot cheaper than 396 parts.

Edit: Also in your last post you are talking about changing the paint code, interior, suspension, etc. I see no reason to install a "date correct" 396, when most of the other parts will not be date correct / original. If you we're going for an all out original restoration, I think the date correct 396 would be worth it. But in your situation I can't find a compelling reason to do it.

Just my 2cents.
